Hiking in the Pyrenees: Carros de Foc

On the north-west side of Catalonia, in the heart of the Pyrenees, we find Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, the only one National Park in Catalonia. This is one of the most beautiful natural areas of our country and the most genuine representation of the high mountain environment of the Pyrenees.

This magic place is very rich in flora and fauna, full of breathtaking landscapes and contains over 200 lakes and 4 peaks over 3000 meters high. Through this idyllic landscapes we have a great network of high mountain hiking trails and mountain shelters that makes it the perfect place for nature and hiking lovers.

Among those hiking routes we find, the famous Carros de Foc route, a circular high mountain hiking route linking the nine mountain shelters in the National Park located between 1900 and 2400 meters. This route offers a unique overview over the high mountain National Park landscapes, hiking through Aran, Àneu and Boi valleys. Since this is a circular route it can be started from any of the 3 main entrances to the National Park and can be completed in between 4 and 7 days.
